Request for photos - please help

Postby Mladen Zadravec » Thu Nov 09, 2017 3:17 pm

Hello everyone!

I'm writing on behalf of Association Hyla (former Croatian Herpetological Society - Hyla), where I work. We would like to ask for your help! :D

We are curently working on the Field Guide for Croatian herpetofauna, also covering species from neighbouring countries which are not present in Croatia. And we are in need of photos of some species and their habitats. We are not able to offer financial compensation due to limited funds, but the initials of each author will be listed underneath each of their photos, with their full names listed in the photographic credits in the book.

The species for which we need photos:
Triturus cristatus - habitat + species
Triturus ivanbureschii - habitat + species
Anguis colchica - habitat + species
Darevskia praticola - habitat + species
Xerotyphlops vermicularis - just the species
Lithobates catesbeianus - habitat + species
Pelobates syriacus - habitat + species
(edit: update - bold items are what we need)

You can send the photos to me via e-mail: mladen.zadravec(at)hhdhyla.hr

Many thanks in advance,
the Cro Field Guide Team

Mladen Zadravec is absolutely the best young herpetologist in Croatia, a thoroughly responsible, reliable,
and decent young man, one of my - I'm proud to say - former "unofficial" pupils. Nowadays it's me who
learns from him, which is, IMHO, the best outcome of any education. Yes, of course he'll treat everything
comme il faut, no worries about that. You (and everyone else who decides to contribute) have
my word for that.

Wow, thanks to everyone who responded so far and sent us a lot of wonderful pictures! It will be difficult to choose among them! :D

Feel free to send some more (I'll update the list in the original post).

Awwww, thank you, Bero! :D

I'm not entirely sure I deserve that title, but it's very nice to hear ;) ... and it also means I had excellent teachers. You taught me a lot (and still do!), for which I am forever grateful.

Yes, you do deserve it. But my intention was primarily to give full public support to the book, of which you are a coauthor, a "recommendation of an elder", for those who might not know. After all, it's, intimately,
my book as well, though not "officially". At best, I might be mentioned just as a "reviewer", or not at all,
but I do care a lot. (About the book, not mentioning me.)
And keep in mind - Mladen (and everyone else) - even an excellent teacher can do nothing out of lousy stuff/pupils. Only Jesus believed to the contrary, and really tried his best, but the outcome is too well
known... So, I've dedicated my efforts to more reliable/promising disciples...
