Malaysia (trying to) herping

For your reports/images, made outside Europe and the "Mediterranean" countries. Not to be too narrow minded and limited to our European/Mediterranean herps.

Malaysia (trying to) herping

Postby Peter Engelen » Mon Dec 20, 2010 12:00 pm

Because I will be to lazy to put my pictures of our Malaysia trip on these website when I got back , I just put here a link to the site of my travel friend who is a lot less lazy and much better organized. We try to update this everyday, when there s connection and we arn t in the middle of the jungle for a few days.

Everyday I think that my brain must ran out off air some while ago> We are sitting here on an idyllic coconut island with nice beaches, places to swim and taverns and what are we doing in daytime> looking in a green jungle for green animals without luck instead of swimming. And at nighttime we do the same trail again instead of sitting and drinking beer. And what do we find. Nothing at all.

Maybe more luck tomorrow or when you want to see a high quantity of snakes try Greece in spring.

>Hi Peter,

thanks for sharing!

I love the mating Microhylas and the p. leucomystax pics (although these are no vipers!) ;)

Mario,

But especially for you we found a few Cryptelytrops purpuromaculatus a few days ago. But we missed the Tropidolaemus wagleri.

Today we are in the North (Kuala Nerang)and we hope to find more snakes here. Yesterday night we were able to find our target species of the North, a nice Calloselasma rhodostoma and today we found 40 cm of snakes, Calamaria pavimentata and Calliophis maculiceps. We hope for bigger once this evening. Elaphe radiata is high on my list.

We will stay here for a couple of days.
