Atractaspis, earlier today

Postby Daniel Thie » Sat Jul 09, 2011 12:28 pm

doin a night trip in the Arad area, we saw few reptiles but many mammals, including a porky pine, rabbits, foxes and - surprisingly - two wolves.
However, suddenly, something that really caught my attention was to be found on the road...

of course it did not come with the box^^ and actually was a bit reluctant to go in there. But then calmed down after few mins.

Great record - congratulations. I guess mole vipers are quite rare and even hard to find.
I would never handle these snakes without thick gloves!

I have a feeling in my area here, all snakes are rare :-(
Concerning the gloves: I only handeled it with a stick and that box, never came closer to its head than about half a meter. For an Ein Gedi Mole Viper it was quite big BTW - about 90cm.
