Apologies if that was incorrect regarding
willardi and other mantane species. I guess that shows when the book is 10 years old and references are not as prolific as they are in many more recent publications. I guess that it would make sense for the montane forms to begin development asap if their active season is so short; it wouldn't make evolutionary sense to limit their reproductive output by unnecessarily dragging a single gestation out over three active seasons!

very nice, these are some beautiful photos! I love the first snake pic and the portrait of the melanistic adder. But my favorite is of course the slimy-atra-in-his-habitat-pic
