Some winter wall lizards from today

Postby Sandra Panienka » Mon Dec 30, 2013 3:16 pm

Finally some sun!!!! And is there anything better than visiting some basking wall lizards. ;) I went down to the Neckar earlier today and played wall lizard paparazzi. The tempreature was around 7°C, a bit chilly and the wind made my ears hurt.

Nice photos and observation. Today I was curious, if salamanders would be out, but I found nothing. 7 °C, but too drought. So at least a habitat shot...

Sadly, no black beauties. I have no idea if they are still alive, but I only found 10 specimen today, so they may still be there.

@Tomas: Nice habitat shot!! I fear that I won't see any salamanders before Friday. It is a bit too cold after dark. We had really great weather for salamanders on the 24th (15.5°C!) but unfortunately the family was visiting. *g*

Cool observation Sandra! I've been to Odenwald, Hesse, today but no Podarcis. I should have moved to Neckar as well ;) Was it directly inside Heidelberg?

Guillaume, where have you been to? And yes, they are the downtown wall lizards. It is actually quite funny, no one really realizes that they are there. When I start taking pictures people usually stop next to me and are quite surprised. ;)

I went to the P.m. nigriventris spot today, but only found four juveniles, managed to take pics of only one of them. Still only 7°C but a lot more comfortable without the wind.

So here it is, my last herp of 2013. Looking forward to 2014. Have a good "Rutsch". ;O)
