Wow - what an interesting long time study of the viper with a sad end.
Is it possible, that the adder was killed by humans - maybe searching for mushrooms or blackberries?

Well, who knows...but I would think humans would kill different. Maybe with cutting it into pieces and smashing it more bloody to be sure to killed that creature successfull.

The circle of life. Very impressive story. I wonder every time that many fieldherpers know their vipers so good :)

Hi Daniel,

Very interesting observations and report. It's good to see that the new generation of berus managed to escape from this accident. I don't know if I could open up a spot in a french forest as you did, I guess the fine would be quite expensive here!

It´s not that we simply do this. Depending on what we want to do, I call the forest ranger or we have a meeting with all officials.
But while cutting wood and stuff for several days the last years never ever someone came and ask what we are doing there.

I think with some luck you could cut trees for days until someone tries to stop you :D
(please don´t do this, this was a joke ;-D)

Last summer I was digging out a huge stump on a forest meadow, slowly it was getting dark and some fog came up.
But I really wanted to finish this stump and so it was nearly dark when I was ready and digging up the hole...when suddenly someone passed the way close to where I was digging in the dark during the fog
But nothing happend....I thought now he will call the police, but nothing.

A pity that so little feedback is coming. Seem so be the wrong forum?
Apparently endless discussions about the evil Michael and herptrip No. 20 to the "usinii zoo" are more attractive.
Well actually I wanted to post some more storys out of my database and there are still more than 900 left but ...

Well, I very much enjoyed this story. I'm just often too lazy to write comments on posts.
