The finding is from an altitude of aprox. 900m ...on a meadow bordering a beech forest... with harsh winters and mild summer temps.

In the first sentence I wrote that I know the answer...so... :-)
I also wrote that the snake was an young adult male more than 1 meter long..... ;-)

I think its possible to make a mess also with comparing berus and ursinii...and start scale counting etc...

In the second picture one can see the copper-coloured iris of the eye,
typical for H. viridiflavus, but not for H. gemonensis - the latter have
yellowish irises.
