Well it is not that I jump out of my home and land direct in the center of the pop!
I have to drive with my bicycle to the train station, use the train and then I still have to drive a long way.
At the end of the day I drove between 15 to 40km with the bicycle ... just to reach all spots
All together I loose about 2 hours just to get there ...

Well, now I'm even more impressed.

Just as additional information to show how vulnerable such a population is and how fast the situation can change :!:

here the data of observations from a subpopulation containing 3 connected sites
Unbenannt-1.jpg
Unbenannt-1.jpg (40.44 KiB) Viewed 4337 times

SW still has "perfect" habitat quality...just since this year wild boars destroyed a lot of the "weed layer"
beside that, I have no clue what happend here...

SE was perfect in 2006 and we tried hard to cut as much trees as possible but too many oaks...and we are not allowed to cut them
so there are still a few good spots left but the habitat as a whole is nearly dead
we just keep one last spot open now

SM never was good, it is just really small and even in summer just a few hours with sunshine...as you see looking at the numbers, it took 3 years until I realizd that they use this bad site...

oh and not a single animal from these subpopulation was ever found elsewhere later

oh and yes....the number of days per year at this subpopulation went down over the years ... but it would not have changed the final result even if I would have doubled the days...

ah it´s KE176...well known since last autumn

and the ladies? KE80 (NO.1) close to the spot from last week ... very nice area with a lot of sun and very close to the winter den

hmmm...this girl has no number so far...seems to be new...I know her just from this month. she has a perfect spot with a lot of sun

that good for her because she still has to digest

and a last one, a black tailed lady, and this one seems to be new too...the tail looks injured somehow - a good reason why its black.
its also looks a bit short...

last week we had some promising days but I had absolutely no time :?
this weekend the weather sucked and the forcast for the next week looks even worse...
whatever, because I anyway was out I spend a few minutes to look for my babys and bang
IMAG0293.jpg

IMAG0302.jpg

around 10°C, no sun at all and a lot of rain during the night and in the morning...
the last years I had more success in november when the weather was not too good...but this time it really was bad...but not too bad as it seems, at least for a few freaks ;)
