Hi everybody
The fieldherping season is almost over.
Now we have time to collect the taken pictures. Here is a report of central Switzerland in spring 2013.
We arrived at our location at sunrise, the weather was beautiful...
Not to hot but a lot of sun - looks like the perfect day for fieldherping.
Already in the first quarter hour we found three melanistic colored Vipera aspis (atra).
Right in the beginning a copulating pair. When the temperature increased more and more vipers moved out of their stashes and became active.
We observed two males twining around while a ritual-fighting. In the end we spotted approximately 15 melanistic colored vipers and only 2 common spotted ones.
An adult Podarcis muralis spec. was seated in an actually dangerous situation.
We added some shots here, but you can find the hole report on our website. http://www.mrm.ch/sites/Fieldherping/20 ... RLAND.html
we hope you enjoy, greetings
